MSU Railway Management Certificate Course Scholarship Offered
for 2008 Fall Session

AARS is pleased to announce a call for applications for the MSU Railway Management Certificate Course Scholarship. The scholarship is for the four-week course and includes all lodging, breakfasts, lunches, textbooks and other classroom and field trip costs. Transportation costs to and from the course and most dinners are not included in the scholarship.
The scholarship is available to all AARS (or non members with an application pending for membership) who have been employed by a railroad company for a minimum of three years and have the support of their current company throughout the course. The deadline for application is September 8, 2008. Applications are available online at www.railroadsuperintendents.org or by calling the AARS office at 331-643-3369. Applications are to be submitted to the AARS office at the address listed below.

Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:

Be a member of the American Association of Railroad Superintendents or have an application pending for membership

Be employed by a railroad company for a minimum of three years and demonstrate a potential for advancement and growth
-
Have full support of their company during the course time
Amount of Scholarship Award - $14,500
The Scholarship is fully funded by Michigan State University.

Sponsorship Form
Applications must be mailed (PO Box 200, LaFox IL 60147), emailed to Carrie Foor
aars@railroadsuperintendents.org, or faxed (630-762-0755) and received by AARS no later than September 8, 2008. The successful candidate will be notified the week of September 15th.
Application Process
To apply for the scholarship the following materials must be completed and submitted to the President of the
AARS:

A completed Application listing educational profile, employment profile, and a brief essay.

A completed Company Sponsorship Form from the applicant’s department supervisor.
Evaluation and Notification

The AARS Scholarship Committee will base its evaluation for awards on the materials submitted. (Please note the scoring criteria on the application form. There is competition for this scholarship, so take the time to present yourself completely in your application.)

Candidates will be notified of the Committee’s decision the week of September 15th,
2008.
